Happy New Year to all Naomh Fionnbarra & St. Anne's players, members, supporters and friends! Hopefully 2019 will be a good one

Club stalwart Martin O'Neill, is running a fundraiser for the Barrs players for this coming season (accumulator photos attached).  It’s only a tenner to enter and the prize is €500 for the winner - certainly a nice present in the run up to next Christmas.  Have a look at the pics on Facebook and let him know if you’re interested please. It’s fairly self explanatory but if ya have any questions ask away. Also, if anyone would like to share this and/or tag any sports fans please work away. Closing date is 11th January. Hard copies of forms available so please get in touch if you want some.

At a recent executive meeting, long serving member Mary Connor was added to our list of Honoury Presidents in recognition for her outstanding work for camogie over a long number of years, as the club along with the Ladies & st Anne’s have embraced the one club module it is fitting that an appointment as such should take place.

Naomh Fionnbarra & St Anne's Lip Sync

Congratulations to the Fundraising Committee, the 12 Acts and numerous Volunteers on a hugely successful Lip Sync Battle in the City North Hotel last night.  Well done to “Missy Tut”, Tracey Fanning, on winning the overall Best Act with her performance as Taylor Swift. Tracey was helped out by Katie McArdle, Siobhan Markey and Marie Doyle as dancers and the four cloaked men, Shane Fanning, Mairtin Murphy, James Butterly and William Woods.  The “Dancing mamas” won the prize for the best fundraisers. Eileen Murray, Mary Kennedy and Mary Reade pulled out all the stops running a disco, a breakfast morning, raffles and selling lines and tickets. JP Cahill along with his dance troop “House of Swag” got an award for the most entertaining group with all their somersaults and back flips.

The Fundraising Committee, Martin McQuillan, Peter Callan, Nicola Connor, Marie Doyle, Ashley Callaghan and Marcella Markey put in a lot of time over the last three months in the build up to the event and on the night. Their hard worked paid off last night with a fantastic show.

The Committee would like give a special thanks to the Acts as without these dedicated people the show would not have been possible. All twelve Acts really shone on stage. Sincere thanks to the Judges, Maria Matthews, Miriam McCarty and Paddy Byrne, the door men James and Padraig Butterly, the voting ladies, Jeni Devlin, Amy Grant, Ellen Butterly and Roisin Osborne, the raffle helpers from St Anne's Camogie club, the stage hands, Nicholas Butterly and Padraic Murphy, the makeup Artists, Ciara Skeffington and Sarah Butterly, the choreographer Fiona Keenan O’Brien, Lip Sync Battles Ireland staff and the staff of the City north hotel.

Thank you to the main event sponsor Connect Credit Union and all business who donated towards the book and raffle. Finally thank to to the audience for supporting the Acts by voting and cheering them on. A successful event to end 2018, lets hope this success continues into 2019 for Naomh Fionnbarra and St Anne's.  Please check the Naomh Fionnbarra Facebook page for pictures and videos of the show!

The club would like to express our deepest sympathy to the families of Gerry Halpenny, 10 An Rian, Annagassan and Eileen O'Friel, Tullydonnell who passed away recently. Gerry brought many juveniles on his mini bus to games over the years and he was a complete gentleman.  Both of Eileen’s sons won minor championships with the club.  Jimmy was wearing no 12 for Sean Treasaighs/Baile Philip when they beat Naomh Buithe in the 1982 final in Drogheda on Sun 17th October.  While Brendan was wearing no 2 for Sean Treasaighs when they beat Naomh Buithe in the 1985 final in St Brigid’s park Dundalk on Sun 15th September.  May they Rest In Peace.

Kind Regards,

Nicholas Butterly P.R.O.
