Togher Walks in support of Caroline Manning, Virtual Leader for Operation Transformation 2021 are encouraging our community to walk 10,000km in January and February. Coined, Togher Walks, we are encouraging you and your family to get out and explore our lovely countryside and help raise money for The Boyne Fishermen's Rescue and Recovery Service as you do it. will donate 2.5c per Km walked with the goal of walking 10,000km as a community in support of Caroline and The Boyne Fishermen's Rescue and Recovery Service. It couldn't be easier. Choose one of the suggested routes, or pick one of your own, walk the route, and submit your distance by clicking here

Sample Routes:


Togher Walks Route 1 – ‘The Scallywags Route'

Option 1

Start at Togher Cross. left at Seafield, left at Hands Cross, straight on passed the church, left at Dunnes Cross to finish back at Togher Cross

Route Distance – 6km


Option 2

Start at Togher x. Left at Seafield, left at hands x, left at scallywags, and right into millroad and back to Togher x.

Togher Walks Route 2 – ‘Walk around Dunany'

Route description – Left at Seafield, left at bawby cross. Round by Patricia McDowells. Left at Mitchelstown cross. Turn left up the hill at Colm Markey farm, straight through at scallywags, right onto the mill road finishing at Togher x.

Togher Walks Route 3 - ‘Castle Lane Loop'

Route description Start at Harbour Annagassan, out along the sea front and up the hill, turn right onto Castle Lane, right at Dillonstown Church and finish back at Harbour.

Togher Walks Route 4 - ‘Mid Togher Loop’'

Route Description – Start at Dillonstown Church, go over the Castle Lane, turn right onto the Togher Road, right again at Martinstown Cross and over through Mount Doyle to the Farm Road, left back to Dillonstown Church.

Togher Walks Route 5 - ‘Drumcar – Nannies - Dillonstown’

Route Description – Start off at Dillonstown Church, head out through Drumcar, on through Castle Thomas to the Dunleer Road, turn left and walk to Nannie’s Cross and left again back to Dillonstown Church.

Togher Walks Route 6 - ‘The Clonmore Block’

Route Description – –From Clonmore Graveyerd head towards Nannie’s Cross, turn left to Dysart Cross and Left again back to Clonmore Cross and the Graveyard

Togher Walks Route 7 - ‘The Left Turn Loop’

Route Description – From Tullydonnell School head to Nannies Cross, turn left onto the Dunleer road, turn left again onto The Galagh, turn left again onto Mc Hugh’s Lane and left again in Barmeath back through Dysart Cross to Tullydonnell. (McHugh’s lane is quite wet and mucky at this time of the year so we would recommend boots or wellies on this route!)

Unfortunately, due to government restrictions, we cannot organise any group walks, but that shouldn't stop you. Walk by yourself, with your family, with your bubble, or even with your bottle of bubbly (be responsible!). Just walk and tell us what you walked. Let’s get those steps going!!!
